I have a great imac at home and am soon going to get a macbook. I'm wondering if I can plug my macbook into my imac so that I can benefit from using the larger screen. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

i have a compaq laptop is about hmmm 4 years old and now its totally dead the screen is soo dark i can barely see anything (sorry for the typos i cant hardly see lol) and it turns off often for no reason the battery dont work so i MUST buy a new one soon here is what it has its brand new model like released this week i think

I've decided I need a laptop computer, unfortunately I am technologically challenged. (I want something preferably from IBM, Compaq or Apple. I was looking at the iBook G3 500MHz 192mb 10GB CD model : M7698 on dvwearhouse.com and I was wonder after I get it could I go like to a computer store and get it upgrated with a dvd drive and stuff, would they be able to do that or is it to old. It is a terrific deal for a used computer ($229). It would be great to know before I bought it. Could you please answer the same question for the ibook clamshell they have. Can I upgrade it?

What happens when i just close my laptop and dont turn it off.? Someone told me it is bad to do....and others say its not. It gets annoying turning it on and off. Is it ok to just close it?

I was using higher resolution than a monitor can support. without distorting the pixels, monitor shows only part of desktop, and by moving my mouse I can see every corners of my desktop but not at once.
But I don't recall how I did except control->setting. I think there is some way to make it enabled.
My monitor supports 1280x800, want my desktop 1600x1200. Any idea?

This issue just happened today, It is a cdrw/dvdr combo drive. I can play dvd's with no issues, I put in a cd rom and it says there is no disc in the drive. the laptop is a Gateway i don't know model. I am runnning Windows XP. Thanks in advanced

So I have a really old Dell Inspiron 4150 Laptop. Due to many years of use, the text has rubbed off the keys. I was wondering if there is such thing as a kit I can buy to "replace" the text on the keys. Or, even better, would be if there is a place I can buy new keys for it?

Please link me a website if such thing exists. Also, please don't answer with just a yes or a no. If the answer is no, that is fine but give me some more information about the topic or suggestions as to what I should do.

A few weeks ago I logged onto my computer and instead of the normal background picture, the background was just black. I went into the properties and when I tried to change it back, I was unable to select any pictures or even try to open pictures to put as the background, I can only change the color. This happened before and I ran AdAware a bunch of times and I was able to change the background. I tried this approach again with no success. When I shutdown the computer though before it gets to the actual screen where it says, "Windows is shutting down" it shows the picture that I had originally for a background. I'm using Windows XP if that helps. Anyone have any suggestions?

I've had many explain to me what it does and the purpose behind it. But I still don't get it. Let's say my laptops breaks down. What good is this "back-up" stuff? How do I work with a laptop that is let's say, frozen up?

I would like a laptop for college. I will need it for internet research and document making (typing, graphs, and images). But also for dowloading stuff off the net, music, streaming videos, and the occaisional game. I would like it to have a pre-loaded system(MUST!) and wireless internet capabilities. Ok, I'm hardware stupid. Is there a program I need to use my webcam. I have an hp pavillion dv 6000t with a builtin webcam across the top of the monitor. I can't even figure out how to turn the thing on. All I want to use it for is kind of a camera, maybe like a mirror (like the girl from Devil Wears Prada). I have a HP Pavillion DV6000 laptop with Windows XP Media Center edition. I hard reset the computer during a boot and now it won't start. I get the "Safe Mode, Normal Config, Last known good Config" screen, but none of the options work. The computer goes through the animated Windows XP Screen, but then flashes a nanosecond of blue screen of death with mysterious type and reboots to the BIOS screen and then to the "Safe Mode, Normal Config, Last known good Config" screen.

Linux and Quickplay boot fine, and I took the BIOS to the default config.

Do I have to reformat, or is there something I can do?
