I like Sony products AR21M

Well it depends what you want to use it for!
The Sony AR range is very nice (they are up to AR31 models with the new Core 2 Duo) but they are quite expensive.
Check out the Toshiba Satellite range - they have some nice 17" models, as well as the HP Pavillion range (both better value than Sony)

If you really want the 17inch screen get a desktop because a laptop with a huge screen does not have a great battery life so if you are using it on the move than it is not worth it. I am in australia so i don't know what they are worth in pounds but look at the Toshiba Qusmio range they have beautiful cleat 17 inch screens on them.
I have never seen a Sony laptop with a 17 inch screen but it may be because they are not very common. I work in IT and Toshiba are reliable good quality computers.
