Quark os an old fashioned document layout program. More modern programs like IN DESIGN have replace it. But if your boss wants you to learn it, maybe he should BUY it.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Hi Sandra,

Quark is a desktop publishing (DTP) program. It's been around for quite awhile and is still used by quite a few graphic designers. I'm a printer and use a DTP program to perform layouts without having to draw lines and type lines by hand.

DTP is mainly used in newspapers and newsletters where you keep the same basic design layout, and you import different text and graphics for each issue. It really saves a lot of time and energy.

Many graphic designers use DTP programs like Quark or inDesign to create everything from business cards, forms, brochures etc. I hope that this helps.

Its a professional graphic design and page layout application. Its primary focus is creating things for print media, which is generally a lot harder than for screen viewing. That is to say, its easier to create something for a web page than for a full color poster or magazine page.

I found this link but I couldnt tell you if this was a good price for the program ($609) I've never used it. I just know its a competitor to a product I do use, Corel Draw. I can reccomend that.
