I bought two external HD for my laptop and one of them arrived earlier than the other one so i simply plugged the first one in and it works just fine. They are both in separate HD enclosures cases. Both HDs are recognized but my 200gig HD (this arrived later than my other one) isn’t assigned a drive letter and I can not access it. I notice that it is indeed listed on the computer's device properties list. I have 2 non speed USB ports and I bought a PCMCIA expansion for 2 2.0 USB ports which both self powered HD are connected to. Once again, I can access my 60gig but not my 200gig

I don’t think it’s a I/O issue with the PCMCIA port, both HD are powered by cords. No drivers are needed as well

Specs:

1.4 gigahertz P3 IBM
2 non hi speed USB ports/2additional 2.0 port from a PCMCIA peripheral
512 meg of ram
Win XP pro SP2
External HDs: 1 60gig (western digital) and 1 200gig (Maxtor)

i appreciate the help

I have a Sony Vaio laptop which I bought used, and the fan has always been a bit noisy. I have taken it completely apart and even oiled it, but that hasn't helped. It may just be a design flaw; the fan is very simple and doesn't seem to have any part that can wear out. The noise is just a low-level, ongoing rattly sound which is somewhat annoying. And it only happens when I'm operating the computer on AC. Using just the battery, the fan is much quieter. Any advice? Thank you.

Help, I love Mac however my iBook g4 has been having problems lately. While using it, the screen randomly goes black and I am unable to do anything with my computer. Also, sometimes when restarting computer, not sure if it's because I reset the PMU the fans blow for a few seconds or continue to blow for a while. I am afraid of a really expensive fix right now and I hope it's just something minor Please help. Can post more information about computer if I can look it up if you need.

Hi,
I'm buying a new laptop, and can't decide between Core Duo or Core 2 Duo.
I use my laptop for the basic stuff nothing too fancy, so I'm not sure which one to get.
Should I get the Core 2 Duo just because its new and Core Duo will be obsolete? Or is it something I just don't need?
Thanks a lot for your help!!!

So, if laptop A and B compete for performance in playing 3D games (The Sims 2 in particular), which one will win? I'm asking because I'm torn between getting one of the laptop.

A.
2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4MB L2 cache
2GB (two SODIMMs) memory
160GB Serial ATA, 5400rpm HD
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 256MB of GDDR3 SDRAM

B.
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2GHz/667MHz/4MB)
1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHZ, 2 DIMM memory
80GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
512MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GTX

Basically, for a lower spec. graphic card in laptop A, will the larger hard drive, RAM and processor clock speed make up for the performance of the game? Thanks.

Currently looking for a lap top between £600 and £1000. I would prefere duo tech, 512mb+, DVD RW, XD photo card, 3D graphics??????, Excel. Good quality build and decent warranty. I have looked at Dell 6400, any good? any ideas? Live in Britain by the way.
