You can free up disk space by removing software you dont need/never use. Go to Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel.
You can free up some RAM by closing everything that does not need to be running. Check your system tray for icons. You could also try using msconfig to prevent various things from starting with Windows. Click Start, Run, type "msconfig" and go to the Startup tab.

Memory "space" can't be freed up. The only way to increase your available memory is to add RAM. You free up disk space on your hard drive by deleting files. Deleting all of your temporary files and temporary internet files is the first place to start.
They're located at C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings. Don't delete the entire folders, just open them, then click Edit, then Select All. Once they're all selected (turned blue), then hold down the shift button, and hit the delete button. Do that with both folders. While you're at it, empty your Recycle Bin. Most people can get rid of a few gigabytes of utterly useless information by doing that.
