I finally upgraded and bought two more RAM sticks, plugged them both in, and the computer wouldn't boot. After a little trial and error (verified both sticks are good), I found out that the fourth slot was the issue.

Probably nothing to do about it, huh?

I have about ten spindles (the 50 pack kind) and most have over 50 cds in it. I also have one 100 pack spindle about two-thirds filled.
I was wondering if it's okay to store them this way (I separate categories with those little plastic rings that come with the spindles).
I thought about jewel cases but all those individual items would be too annoying... and I'm not too sure about a cd book.

Hi,
I just got a new computer 3.2 GHz processor and stuff so I thought oooo this will be fast. Little do I know 512 MB memory is not enough. I found some memory that is 256 MB 184P DDR=HN DDR400 (whatever that meanns) by Transcenc. My computer uses DDR2. Here's a link for more detailed specs - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-detailsinactive.asp?EdpNo=2644072&Tab=0&NoMapp=
Will the type of memory I want to put in my 2nd slot work with my computer and if it dosen't work and I try to put it in anyways what will happen? WIll it fry my computer?
Thanks

I've just set up my new Advent T9317 with built in tv tuner. In Media i can get terrestial stations by plugging a portable tv aerial into the aerial input plug-in. In my front room i've got Cable from Telewest. Would i have to run a lead all round the house from the set top box? And then i wouldn't be able to watch a different channel than was on in the front room. My internet connection is via a Webroot external modem plugged into a USB. Whats going to be the easiest and cheapest way to get digital tv and be able to watch a channel independant of my present set top box?

Firewire is supposed to be S400/S800 but why does SP2 lower that to S100? Also, is there any danger to a non-IT professional installing the update from microsoft (designated KB885222) to restore the speed to S400?

Quote from microsoft: "After you update your computer to Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), the performance of your 1394a or 1394b FireWire devices may be greatly decreased." "This problem occurs if you connect a 1394a or 1394b FireWire device to a 1394b port. This problem occurs because Windows XP SP2 changes 1394b ports to S100 speed when you upgrade."

Why would microsoft do this to us and is there any reason to not set it back to its maximum speed?
