I have about ten spindles (the 50 pack kind) and most have over 50 cds in it. I also have one 100 pack spindle about two-thirds filled.
I was wondering if it's okay to store them this way (I separate categories with those little plastic rings that come with the spindles).
I thought about jewel cases but all those individual items would be too annoying... and I'm not too sure about a cd book.

for those who say it's bad to put them on a spindle: how can it be that bad if they come that way?

If you're not reckless with your CDs, and you have a CD/DVD cleaner/buffer handy just in case ... why not?

i have over 3000 cd's and they are all stored in their individual jewel cases, but the one's i take to the car are in a 300 cd book.Personally I wouldnt store them in a spindle just because they are all touching and there is a possiblity of scratching them.

Youve copied them contained in the incorrect format the cds are advantageous youve prob copied in mp3 or somthing else they'd desire to be in wav format, till you have a newish dvd that performs mp3 motor vehicle CDS are technically old so which you will desire to attempt lower back and burn music as a wav format

depending on where you place the spacers,- i would be inclined to take the spacers out as cds do actually weigh quite a bit when(for example) 70 are sitting on top of 10 on top of 20 etc etc. use a dud cd or the cd size blanks that come with them to support the weight evenly accross the disk and stick labels sticking out with the catorgories on(they will bend down to allow the lid to be put on.

It does not damage the cds to store them that way - it's just a pain trying to find the one you need. You can buy the cd book pages and put them in binders the size that you need.

yep everyone up there got it all wrong. you can leave them that way for about 10 minutes then static electricity wall erase or at least partially mess up the data on the discs. oh and the weight cant do any good to them either.
