Friends,i want to know that for Writing DVD-RAM drives do i need a DVD-RAM Writer or will earlier DVD-Writers can be used to write them?

It recognizes CD's that have stuff on them, but it won't recognize a blank cd. Help!

i just put in a new laser, and now i cant get the motor to spin the cd up. is there a latch or a switch i missed? dont have the cover on firm enough? i thought i heard the cd spin up before i switched it out, but that just might have been the laser moving. any help apreiciated.

i am looking to upgrade from my ATI Radeon 9250 to something faster. are there any cards that will run games as smooth as a PS2? it must have a PCI interface and i definatley want a nVidia. i was looking at the FX5000 series (specifically the GeForce 4 FX5500). how are these? i want something that will handle racing games with absolutley no problems. give me some suggestions also on what you think would be "overkill". i do have a budget too. i plan to buy my next card on ebay so i want to keep it under $100 but i am willing to compromise if it has features that apeal to my style of gaming.

will RAM upgrades make my system faster too? i have 512mb of DDR 266 PC2700 (i think) with a 40gig hdd (almost full) and a 3.06ghz Celeron cpu.

my budget doesnt provide for an SLI 3+ghz gaming monster. i just want a simple upgrade. i only have a standard PCI - NOT PCI express or anything fancy. please dont recommend getting a new board, it totally out of the question, unless you found a good board for dirt cheap.

i spend many thousands of dollars on my mountain bike and only use the computer as a pass time.

How can one buy the best video card if the most expensive one bought today will cost more than a budget card bought today plus another budget card bought a year from now, and in the end will be a worse card than the budget one bought a year from now?
Anyway, while you're pondering at this question, here's my system:
Core 2 Duo e6400 2.13Ghz,
P5N-SLI motherboard,
1gb Kingston 667Mhz DDR2 RAM,
250GB WD SATAII 16mb.
To make it all work, I supplied it with eVGA Geforce 7300 GS 256mb as one of the cheapest video card solutions I could find (cost me around $80 +tax). Am I losing a lot of performance with this card? I was playing Half Life 2 for a while, and didn't really experience any problems yet was wondering if any of more recent games would be slow.

I have a Gateway computer with a 2 gig processor ,a 120 gig hard drive running windows XP home edition . I had to re-format and re-install windows because my daughter tried to play a music CD and the sound and internet both stopped working.now i can`t get the drivers to install just keeps saying , windows cannot find a better driver but there are no drivers to begin with.

I own a INTEL915GVWB mother board with 1 pci express 1x slots and two ordinary PCI slots.I am in need of a good graphics card with features like pixel shader 2.0,TNL support and more...for gaming purpose.Any one can give me some information about the graphics card available for my motherboard?(PCI express 1x & 2 PCI slots).which will be better for usage in these two?
