i just put in a new laser, and now i cant get the motor to spin the cd up. is there a latch or a switch i missed? dont have the cover on firm enough? i thought i heard the cd spin up before i switched it out, but that just might have been the laser moving. any help apreiciated.

This is why they tell you that the warranty is void if you open the case. Go buy another one and if this one needs work, send it back to sony. It will cost a little more but will be cheaper than buying both the new part and then a new playstation after you get done and it wont work.

did it spin before you replaced the laser? You may have replaced the wrong part for the problem. When replacing the laser there are adjustments needed using an o-scope to adjust the focus and alignment. Doing this is technical and I am sorry but can not give the info here.
