Well it seems that this isnt your only off the wall question... But to anser your Question.
A lot of people arent computer friendly so they might not know what to get they may not know that most monitors work with most computers same with the mouse and keyboard. But it may be cheaper to buy the kit but its purpose is to give you an all you need setup. So if you don't know alot about computers you wont feel helpless not everyone grew up with computers. basicly it just makes it easyer.

It has 3 reasons:
1-The most important issue is compatibility.By purchasing a computer package, from a well known brand, you make sure that the computer parts either inside and outside ones are at a good compatibility level as the computer manufactures test thousands of parts in order to choose the most compatible ones.
2-Guarantee:It means that you will get one single guarantee card for all of your devices,so it would be very easier for you to solve your technical problems.
3-As the PC manufacturers buy computer parts on a regular basis and in thousands,so the device producers give them very special discounts, this is the reason that PC manufacturer can give you a computer very cheaper than building it your self.
As far as I know,Microsoft sells a single license of Windows XP Home Edition to Dell for 8$!Now what would be the price if you wanna buy it your self?

first thing, it is cheaper to buy a set rather than buying them separately. You won't get problem in installing them like drivers etc.
The parts we get in branded computer have 98% chances of genuinety

You get everything at once. And KNOW it all goes with your computer vs. getting it seperate.
It is usually cheap as well .. you get what you pay for, so you may want to upgrade later.

Umm.. if I understand your question correctly, it is so that people can use it :)
If you don't have a monitor or a mouse, you'd want one with your computer.

What's the 'purpose' of your questions?
I mean, really, honestly, what do you hope to gain?
