Add-ons - October 2006

After quite a bit of research, i've found a company that does sell Dell Dimension compatible power supplies, but only up to model 9100. I'm curious if anybody has upgraded their 375watt PSU, to something heftier...and if so from where ;-)

Or did you use a standard ATX PSU, like all the ones i've seen out there from companies like Antec and so forth...

How do you loose physical memory in your computor? I upgraded to 512MB and that worked fine for a while, Now all of a sudden, it shows that I only have 384 MB. What happened?

when i turn off the power for my computer my usb mouse stays on. (the optical sensor and lights stay on) it happens with my one computer (soyo mobo) but not on my other one (asus). what can i do without unplugging it all the time. also is it bad to have the mouse on 24/7? thx

I have a USB hard drive which works perfectly well in XP (just literally plug and play, and it's on My Computer, which I access like a normal drive).

I have another computer with ME, but I can't find the USB hard drive on the my computer section. Any ideas why, or what I might need to do to get the USB Hard drive working in both ME and XP?

I have a 5.1 Sound System that came from the factory with the computer. In the back of the tower there are 3 inputs for the 5.1 (yellow black and green), then there are a blue, a black, and a pink inputs.
I think one of them is for the mic or maybe the webcam,dunno. Do I need to install a sound card to run a line to the stereo receiver(Sony digital) or is there another way? Have tried running lines from the pink, blue, and black recepticles with an RCA jack, and no success. Thank-you for any info whatsoever.
Dell 4700 series, 2.8gig processor, 250 gig hard drive, wireless keyboard and mouse, with AT&T Yahoo! ISP.
I want to play cd's on the computer in the office while doing Yahoo! Answers, and pipe the music into the living room and kitchen. Know what I mean? Thanks again.

I use FS2004 a lot. I have a Intel 2.80 Duo 1 Gig DDR2 RAM. and a Nvidea 6800 Xtreme graphics card. I bought this computer cause my old computer shucked badly. So, when I;m flying everything is prett smooth, except for some things like, clouds. The more clouds there are, the crappier FPS I get. I suppose thats because of the Anti-aliasing. But thats a must when playing FS!. So will upgrading and buying another stick of RAM (1GIG) help me any in the performace wise? (TOTAL to equal 2 GB)

My USB seems to be broken, but according to the Windows device manager, it's working.
I plugged in my iPod and it charges, but it can't read the iPod. I tried an external HD and the PC can't read the HD. I tried updating the drivers, but they're all updated.
How can I tell what's wrong with it? Will I need to take it to the shop? Is there a software that can tell me what's wrong with it?

Please assist me in buying a mobo.
i'm confused with those 945s and 965s.
my budget is 8k(max).
Now i really got a platform and that too ASUS.
But their models are confusing.
P5LD2, P5LD2 V, P5LD2 VM, P5LD2 VM SE, P5B, P5B VM, P5B V, P5B E, P5B E Plus.
I need to decide among the above mentioned.
I am planning to use C2D E6300 in contrast to 7900gt (no sli) with the mobo.
Will be Glad if anyone could be of help.

When I boot up my computer with the usb mouse already attached, it resets itself as soon as I move it. I must instead plug in the mouse after I boot up the computer to get it to work. Does anybody know how to fix this? Is there some patch or software I need?
