I was told that floppies were not compatible with windows XP

If it is USB device, it should be recognised and usually installed just on plugging in. At least recognised. Then, try installing any particular driver software that came along with the drive.

I installed a floppy in a dell this weekend that did not come with a floppy in it I mean there wasn't even a bay to put the floppy in I had to install it all. Then I right clicked on my computer the
A: drive still didn't show up so I restarted my PC started pressing the F2 key that opened the BIOS and found that the floppy was disabled completely so that had to be redone to fix it. But if you don't know how to move around in your BIOS to fix things you can really mess a PC up. But if your PC had no floppy in it you will most likely have to have this done.

i guess you could always try it and see if it installs
