Yes, it should just plug into a spare IDE conector.

You should have 2 IDE ports on the mother board IDE1 and IDE2.
Each can have 2 devices conected, Master and Slave
You have proberbly got the following:-
IDE1 - MASTER - Hard Drive
IDE1 - Slave - CD Rom

You may need a cable for it and connect
IDE2 - Master - DVD RW

Absolutely. My only concern is that if you plan to copy DVDs you should make sure that your hard disk has at least 5GB of free disk space ( 10GB recommended).

You will need this free space to work with the large amount of data contained on DVDs.

Also, make sure you know wit DVD buring program you plan to use (Nero is best choice). These programs also have minimun requirements for RAM & recommended CPU speeds. If your CPU is low end or Celeron it could take several hours to copy a single DVD.

What I'm trying to say is that if you end up needing to buy more RAM, a larger hard drive, faster CPU, DVD burner, DVD software , etc .... you may just be better off buying a new PC specifically aimed at multimedia performance.

Do all the math and see what's best for you.

Philip T
