I generally clean my CDs with a soft paper towel and some water. Run water gently over the surface of the CD and then gently pat it with the towel. The ultimate goal when cleaning the CD is to remove the gunk without damaging the CD. Abrasive cleaners may damage the CD, and shouldn't be used. Anything which is dirty may also scratch the CD. A soft cloth or a quality paper towel shouldn't be a problem if they're used gently.

Argggg - NEVER use window cleaner on a cd/disc - it can react with the coating on the disc and screw it completely. Also, don't use paper - is far too abrasive! Bloody hell!
Soft cloth and a suitable cleaner (or breath on it as you would a pair of sunnies). ALWAYS clean ACROSS the disc rather than circular motions - cleaning in a circular motion can create fine scratches which can then create the laser to skip point on the disc.
If all else fails, you can usually pick up disc-repair kits which will put a fine coating across the surface of the disc to repair any scratches - ask at your local music retailer for more info. The only real scratches which are completely irreparable are those on the BACK of the disc, as these remove the reflective surface below making it unreadable to the laser

Use a soft fibreless tissue and clean the fingerprints using a straight, light, movement.. do not try circular movements.. If yu've got old damaged/ useless floppies, break them apart.. you'll find `fibreless tissue' attached on the inner side of the casing of the floppies.

just genitally rub it down with a soft dry cloth.
