Hi Subha,
Bluetooth technology is how mobile phones, computers, and personal digital assistants (PDAs), not to mention a broad selection of other devices, can be easily interconnected using a short-range wireless connection. Using this technology, users can have all mobile and fixed computer devices be totally coordinated.
Bluetooth is an industrial specification for wireless personal area networks (PANs), also known as IEEE 802.15.1. Bluetooth provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones, laptops, PCs, printers, digital cameras and video game consoles via a secure, globally unlicensed short-range radio frequency.

Many devices still can't communicate with each other, and users wind up keying the same information into both their Palm and mobile phone because there's no easy way to link the two. Bluetooth, a technology developed by Ericsson and now supported by hundreds of manufacturers, lets these devices easily talk with one another.
This device designed in a such a way to communicate with some other device with out any WIRE, in other words this is a kind of Wireless Network. But restricted to some limited areas. So this is brief about the Blue tooth Technology.

Bluetooth provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones, laptops, PCs, printers, digital cameras and video game consoles via a secure, globally unlicensed short-range radio frequency.
Bluetooth is a radio standard and communications protocol primarily designed for low power consumption, with a short range (power class dependent: 1 metre, 10 metres, 100 metres) based around low-cost transceiver microchips in each device.
Bluetooth lets these devices communicate with each other when they are in range. The devices use a radio communications system, so they do not have to be in line of sight of each other, and can even be in other rooms, so long as the received transmission is powerful enough.
Bluetooth is not new - it's been around for several years now. It was first developed in 1994 and "official" in 1998.

You may be aware of wireless networks used for computing. These are in the 2.4 GHz frequency range.
Bluetooth is the name given to short range wireless technology used for connecting diverse devices like cell phones, computers, handhelds, etc (in fact i read somewhere that there is now a bluetooth enabled refrigerator)
It is named after a 12th century Danish king who united the diverse people in his kingdom!

Its a wireless technology increasingly being used in mobiles; laptops and other electronic devices. Its named over a Danish king called Harold; who was also known as bluetooth.
This technology works on short wave radio frequency for communication and data transfer; for upto a range of 100 meters. Its consortium is headed by companies like Motorola, Ericsson, IBM, Tosibha, Intel and Nokia.
