Hi,
I just got a new computer 3.2 GHz processor and stuff so I thought oooo this will be fast. Little do I know 512 MB memory is not enough. I found some memory that is 256 MB 184P DDR=HN DDR400 (whatever that meanns) by Transcenc. My computer uses DDR2. Here's a link for more detailed specs - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-detailsinactive.asp?EdpNo=2644072&Tab=0&NoMapp=
Will the type of memory I want to put in my 2nd slot work with my computer and if it dosen't work and I try to put it in anyways what will happen? WIll it fry my computer?
Thanks

from what i read on your system you should install DDR2. if you don't know the id of your memory. shut down system and unplug it. open case pull memory stick out and read the label on it as to type and brand. some of the memory stick brands don't play well together. remember which slot you pulled out of so you can reinstall it. ps install all the ram that you can afford and never less that 1 gig due to video share, sound, etc.

Linux OS is correct, however, his link shows ECC RAM.

This is a feature you will not be able to use in that PC with the other existing module (ECC is a added level of bit error correction)

Get a similar module but make sure it is NON ECC.

You will degrade its performance if you are lucky enough of making the old DDR module work on that PC.

You will make the computer run slower if you install that memory.

Get new memory.. it is cheap

You use DDR2 RAM.

Get one of these for an extra 512 MB:
