Add-ons - December 2006

In my computers Bios setup I can adjust it from 4meg to 256 meg.
If I adjusted the AGP would it make my computer run any faster?
It is currently set at 64megs

I mean if they are wireless then how do they even work on your computer. Call me dumb but i do not get it.

My computer is a 1.3ghz AMD Athelon, 768 mb of RAM, and the video card is a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. The graphics STILL stutter, esp. the video. Are there any BIOS settings that will make the the video stop stuttering or settings in general that will make it all go faster? Thanks in advance.

i got the Logitech Speakers V20 for christmas. however, they crackle whenever sound is coming out of them. their quality is great other than that. the other problem i have is that they skip a lot. it's like when i'm opening too many windows and the music skipps because it can't process all the information. but i think it's because it's plugged into the USB instead of the headphone jack. is there any way to fix this problem?

i have just ran all four 3d mark tests(except 3dmark 2006) and i want to compare my results with other users
i have a athlon 3200+/ 1gb ddr ram/ nvidia geforce 6200
3d mark 2000 .....9059 3dmarks
3d mark 2001 .....8025 3dmarks
3d mark 2003 .....2449 3dmarks
3d mark 2006 .....1226 3dmarks

the 3d mark 2003 and 2005 were absolutely rubbish so this has made me decide to upgrade my current graphic card,so with a budget of anything up to £100 what is a decent card to improve on these scores
i would like to stick with nvidia but i dont mind using a.t.i,and also i have a "a.g.p" interface
should i go the whole hog and upgrade the motherboard aswell to a pci-express board sp i can use the pci-e interface

My computer said my disk space was low so i bought a Maxtor One Touch III 60GB hard drive and it came with no instructions. I dont want to back-up everything on my computer i just want more space so i can put new programs on it...can someone help me?!?!

My new PC has a CD/DVD-ROM combo drive with various speeds? , ie, 48X24X16 etc, Should I let the default speed take over ? I read somewhere that it takes 45minutes to format a disc, that's crazy!

I'm not sure what the problem is. I unplugged everything and opened up the computer and added the card to the PCI slot. When I started my computer, Windows started up and it got as far as loading my programs then the computer just restarts. What can I do?

I currently use an nVidia 7600 GT card and all the graphics settings in the games my family plays *appear* to be at maximum detail. This card cost about $130 after rebate. I'm seeing systems that use two of these $500-600 cards and ask myself what additional graphics detail would they provide. I know that I will need an 8xxx card or a forthcoming ATI card to get hardware support for Direc3D 10 (Windows Vista), but what am I losing, apart from time, by waiting for more modestly priced 84xx/86xx cards due out later next year? The games we play are first-person driving games, current year's versions (e.g., Trackmania, Outrun 2006, FlatOut 2).

I want to change the drive letters of the removable storage (ex. Compact Flash, SD...) They don't appear in disk management so how do I change the drive letters. the card reader is mounted inside the computer and the hsrd drive is external. I want the hard drive partitions before the removable storage. The removable storage is empty, but I would like to be able to use it with my compact flash card from my digital camera every once in a while. All help is appreciated. Thanks

I bought a webcam, which came with a seperate mic and installed the software and the cam is running fine. When I'm on MSN Messenger I cant get the mic to work and it wont work within the cam's own program either. The mic is plugged into the correct socket on my PC (you can't go wrong as they are all colour coded) and the Messenger mic options seem ok. Is there some other setting, within the PC itself that I need to change in order for the mic to work?

Just built a new system and I'm having problems with my dvd/cd burner combo. It's a Samsung sh-s182d and it worked for awhile, but then Windows stopped detecting it. Then I finally got it to work again after I plugged it into a different chord, but it didn't burn cd's properly and now it's not working again. I'll list my system specs just so you know...

Core 2 duo E6600 @ 2.4GHz
2Gigs RAM
GeForce 7950 GT KO
Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard
550W Antec power supply.

None of the other specs should affect this. I'd like opinions on whether this is a hardware failure coming from the drive or another system component. Everything is brand new so hopefully it isn't the mobo. If it's the drive it can easily be replaced. Thanks in advance.
