I want to buy a new video card but the problem is that I dont have a AGP slot, But morely a PCI. I'm no pro but I know the only option I got is PCI-E cards, So is it backward compatible with PCI Solds?

I am trying to retrieve information that was on an external hard drive that I had. A message popped up saying that windows writer delay failed (something along those lines). ANd then it froze my computer. Now when i plug the harddrive int othe USB port my computer recognizes that something was plugged in but doesnt recognize what it is. I tried all ways to open its in every way possible. To include right clicking on my computer and then clicking on Disk management. PLease help

It has 3 pins:
1 - Power
2 - CPU
3 - CPU Fan
I know how to connect power, but 2 and 3 i don't know.
Is it possible to connect it between CPU and fan?

I essentially use my system for encoding DVDs, converting mpg and avi. Ripping DVDs, etc... I notice it takes probably about an hour to encode a dvd right now I'm running a 1700+ I was planning to purchase a 3000 XP with the 333 FSB I was thinking it may speed things up a little bit. I notice the difference between the two chips is a double in the L1 and L2 cache from 64 to 128 in L1 and 256 to 512 in L2. Speed goes from 1.47 in the 1700+ to 2.167 in the 3000. I have a Radeon 9800 PRO and 2 WD 250GB hard drives and 1.5 gig of PC2100 RAM

On a Dell Dimension 3000 can you add a PCI Graphics card, or does the Intel integrated graphics prevent that? Any suggestions on a good graphics card for that particular system?

External hard drives are like hard drive enclousures and have a hard drive in them. I was wondering if you can buy a hard drive enclosure that acts like a external hard drive. I am wondering this because i have an extra har drive laying around and i want to stick it in a external hard drive type of thing because i can't put it in my computer. Do they make such things?

When I try to install my USB PCI Card, a box pop up that says that it doesn't have a Windows logo and the driver has not been signed and I can stop the installation or continue, and when I continue it doesn't work. this is getting SO darn irritating. okay i plugged in this headset with microphone on it but its not working on the computer. i dont even know how to check if the computer recognizes this or what. i went into the volume control and stuff and turned it on and unchecked mute but its still not working. i went to sound recorder and tried to test it but no sound came up. i need help. i dont even know how to find my device on the computer. cause i dont know what the computer calls it and stuff HELP PLEASE

its not working , i did the whole double click the speaker looking thing in the corner andwent to options properties and checked the mic box then unchecked the mute box for the mic but i tried testing my mic in the sound control but it wasnt working. did i miss something? HELP PLEASE

I have 128MB of RAM and one slot free. Would my PC still run smoothly under 128MB and 512MB or would I have to get a 256 instead of the 128?

Also: Does any component go with any computer?
Is there a piece of software like Belarc that will tell me if I have DIMM RAM or SIMM RAM? (read about it on PCWorld site.)
What's the difference (in basics and leave out the non essential bits because I gather it would probably take a while to explain them all, even explain it in terms of "Great", "Good", "Terrible", "N/A" etc. if you want. :P) between DDR Memory, DDR2 Memory, SDRAM Memory and SODIMM Memory.
