Graphics options?

On a Dell Dimension 3000 can you add a PCI Graphics card, or does the Intel integrated graphics prevent that? Any suggestions on a good graphics card for that particular system?

First, disabling the on-board Intel graphics will be a gigantic thorn in your side. I believe (depending on your chip-set) it will be a BIOS fix.

I think that you under-estimate your problem, I assume you want to add a card with more Graphics RAM, but what you need is both Graphics RAM and a faster interface (ie more bandwidth) between the Graphics Card and the motherboard, you will not get this performance from a PCI card, for it is the slowest supported standard in computer interfaces.

In short, by a new computer.

Or buy more RAM (the normal sticks) to put into your computer and assign more RAM to the embedded graphics.

As long as your computer uses PCI Express, sure yea u can, but I would be careful, its not the Intel integrated graphics that will prevent that, its Dell that might prevent that. Dell computers have been extremely well known to not take parts for upgrades that aren't from Dell
So maybe call customer service at Dell hq and ask them
they might know

A PCI graphics card is very difficult to find if not impossible to find. So the integrated graphics controller looks to be your only option.

read your manual and everything that came with the computer to see if u got a PCI slot or AGP slot

i just got a new graphics card for my pc that had integrated graphics too.... it works good

yes you can add a graphics card as long as you have an open pci slot open on the motherboard.

there are way to many video crads to suggest just one.
it all depends on what you need it for and how much you want to spend.
