I want to buy a nice video card for my computer but I don't want to spend to much money, what should I get. I would mainly be using the video card for video games.

Well If your going with cheap your probably talking AGP slot cards cause that Is older technology. It's kinda tricky cause it really depends on the games some games are made to look better on Nvidia Some better on Ati. I have a 7800 GS that Is agp and It works wonders for games like half life to and far cry but when i play games such as joint operations or Delta force other than frame rates the game appears the exact same. If your looking to have the card for a while and play the latest games your going to want to get something with 256 memory so it can handle the games for a while. If you have a game that you play religiously and thats all your concerned about you may be able to get by with a cheaper card that will be able to handle that game but maybe not games of the future.

Sooo as far as high priced AGP i'd go with the
BFG Nvidia 7800 GS---$175 (thats what i paid anyway)

Mid range AGP I would go with the
XFX GeForce 6800 Video Card- - - -$140

For low range AGP I would go with
PNY GeForce 6200 Video Card--------$60

For High End PCI-E Card I would go with
BFG Technologies GeForce 7800 GT OC Video Card--$275

For mid range PCI-E I would go with
BFG Technologies Geforce 7600GT Video Card----$180

For low end PCI-E cards i would go with
XFX GeForce 6800 XT Video Card- - -$115

Hopefully that will give you some Idea of what your looking at. If you search video card reviews In a search engine you can get lots of feedback on good cards.

www.Guru3d.com- Has several videocard reviews
www.Pricegrabber.com- Pay the bare minimum for your card
www.ebay.com -- Would highly recommend ebay. Buy new from someone who owns a business on ebay chances are If they have a good feedback rating your gonna get a good deal fast although It may take longer to find a deal than just paying a certain amount up front a a regular store.

*Personally I go with BFG cards cause of there lifetime warranty and 24/7 support but It's all up to you casue BFG cost a little more than the same card In a brand such as e-VGA.

Hope this helps.

First, find out if you have PCI, PCI-E, or AGP. Then get a direct X 9 compatible card. That would be any card from ATI that is Radeon 9500 and above or anything in the X series, like X300, X1400, X1900XT, for example. Also anything from Nividia in the Geforce 6 family or above (6200, 6600, 7200, 7600, etc.). Get as much memory on it as possible and I wouldn't spend too much on it as you'll have to upgrade again once Vista and Direct X 10 come along near the end of the year.

The best card in the $150 would probably been the Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT. The 7600 GS and 7300 GS are available if you need something cheaper, as well as the 6600 GT.

Depends on what game
But just to make sure u have the requirements for the next year or so
get the
nVidia Geforce 7600 GT
placed from 150 to 220 dollars US
found nice and cheap on
www.newegg.com
the cheapest hardcore videocard you can find
unless you go with the 6600GT which is quite out of date now

NVIDIA is a good choice. Check Sam's Club on occasion for good prices.
