Ok, People, thank you for throwing names at him, but you didnt explain why your ram was the best, and in one case told him to use the mose untrustworthy company on the internet, Tigerdirect.com. I once sent a computer back to them because the psu fried. They didnt fix it, give me back any money, or send the computer back to me. They pretty much stole $1000 from me. Then they claimed that the rebate that came with it never existed.
OK now, I am assuming you mean you have pc4300 in your computer right now, and that its a desktop. That RAM sucks. It runs at 533mhz, and almost all proccesors run 667-800mhz front side bus (the speed the cpu interacts with the RAM. the ram should match that speed.). You need at least pc5300.
Also, when picking out ram you need to look at the CAS timing (the time it takes the RAM to respond to a request by the CPU), which should be no more than 4 with pc5300 and no more than 5 in any RAM faster than pc5300.

You will need to know the speed and type of ram you need. My suggestion is to get the current ram out while the computer is unplugged of course and then write down the name and ID numbers. Then call up or look on Tiger Direct. They are very helpful whether or not you buy from them or not.

You'll want to know what kind of RAM your motherboard supports. If it supports only DDR RAM, then you can't buy DDR2 RAM. If you are unsure, take it to a computer shop and ask them to tell you what kind of RAM your motherboard supports. Then it will be easier for us to help you find the best memory for your money.

If I were you I would go to crucial.com.
They will analyze your machine for the types of memory that are compatible with it, make recommendations, and then list options for you to choose from.
They are safe and reliable, and the most AFFORDABLE place on the net ...I have bought from them, as well as everyone I know... (even our local Mom and Pop computer shops get their memory sticks from them.)

It will have to be the same type as already present in your system - you could replace ALL the ram with newer type IF compatible with your Motherboard.

You can go faster but you cannot run slower. It won't work. If you are gaming you really need the higher grade RAM.
