Hard Drive: 269 GB Total
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)

Sound Card: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
Speakers/Headphones: CA Speakers (2 speakers) With Subwoofer
Keyboard: Logitech
Mouse: Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000
Mouse Surface: table
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Ultimate (6. 0, Build 6000) (6000.vista_rtm.061101-2205)

My one hard drive keeps shutting off and i have one Sata hard drive which is 150GB which is partitioned into two partitions then one SCSI 30GB, then one "SCSI hard drive = 74.5 GB = the one that is shutting off" and hasn't done that since about 1 week ago. Could it be the jumper settings? Which has no jumpers on them. So plz reply ASAP. Thanks in advanced.

I have a Acer aspire T180. I use it primarilly for heavy image manipulation.
I have upgraded the ram from 512mb to 2 1/2GB. What else can i do to speed up the performance? The processor is a AMD Athlon 64 x2 3600. Is it worth changing this? If so.....what to?

My mums laptop/notebook broke down, we need that data back it has her work on it.

We have a 2nd Laptop, would we be able to simpy swap the Hard-Drives, and have everything working fine again, including the Operating System?

How would we do this, what would we need to watch out for? Thanks

Basically, my computer wasn't booting a few days so I had to bring it to the repair shop. The BIOS was the problem so the guy updated it. However, ever since I got the computer back, the fan is making so much noise compared to how much it used to make before. Is this normal, could I reduce it?

My latpop, Compaq Evo N610c, no longer charges. I have not a clue ot if it is the laptop or charger that is broken, but the charger beeps when it is plugged in to the wall. It's input is 100-240v and output is 18.5v. I have another charger for a IBM Thinkpad 600x that has an input of 100-240v and 16v output. Can I use the IBM thinkpad charger on the Compaq Evo with out blowing up or ruining something?

Hey everyone, I am currently just finishing up a computer build

300 W PSU
160 GB Hitachi HDD
Samsung Writer Master DVD Combo drive
3 GB 400 Mhz ram (i believe it's pc3200)
MSI 7207 (K8NGM2-H) Motherboard
Onboard Sound
Onboard Graphics Geforce 6100 128 MB Shared

Everything is going just according to plan, i think....
However, everything is brand new, and thus there is
a) No Operating system
b) the HDD is not formatted
c) the DVD drive is not formatted (either that or not being recognized)

So how do I get around this dillema?
My DVD drive does not allow me to open tray (it is not being recognized) thus i cant insert a bootable windows xp cd, which is useless since my HDD isn't formatted and partitioned.

Any suggestions?

Can i use an external drive of some sort?

Confused..

Please help!

I am not terribly computer literate. I'm purchasing a new pc and am cheap enough to question spending the extra money for 2GB. I'm looking at a machine with an AMD Athlon 64x Dual-Core 4000, 1GB memory, and a 160GB hard drive (although I can up it to 250 with a very minimal cost).

Is all this enough to run Vista Basic smoothly? I am not into pc games or heavy editing; I do basic digital photo stuff on my computer and like to listen to music. Other than that, it's really just surfing the web.

Also, if I were to spend the extra $100 for the 2GB, would it be a better investment in the long run? I have a 512MB with a Celeron processor now, it is slow as anything but I'm still barely using 55% of it's memory with my files and running XP. All thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks much :)

Im On my New Computer Now. but I want wanting to fix up my old computer to use as a backup. When I plug my computer in and turn it on the power button turns yellow automatically. and I also cant hear the hard drive kick on. What do you think could be wrong with my computer

my friend suggested the power supply could be bad or the hard drive

any suggestions??

I know the computers not in stand by mode because you can wiggle the mouse and push all the keys you want on the keyboard and it still doesnt work.

I have a mustek 1200 ub plus scanner... yeah, i know it old, but im trying to use it on my laptop with vista and i dont know if it will work, because there are only drivers for xp and others, and when i try to install it, it gets some errors saying parts of the installation are being used... is it possible at all to use this scanner on vista?

Well i shut down my computar and left before it finished and i noticed it said shutdown and install updates so i went with it and came back 2 hours later to a frozen computar so i hit the power butten and went through the safe mod screen and i hit start windows normaly and it still was frozen so i hit safe mode(currently on it) and at this point im thinking that i should system restore my computar. Is that what i should do? will it earase any of my programs or harm my computar/slow it down.

Ok so i have a HIS x1650 PRO

default it has a core clock of 600 and a mem clock of 800


so I got ATItool to overclock it, I tried to use Find Max Mem but my computer would mess up after only about 10secs. So I left the memory the way it is and i was able to use find max core and it got to 675 stable

but now when i play games
i noticed that some things in game are faster than before
like the counter strike source stress test, Normally it takes about 30secs but now my computer clears it within about 20secs

and also animations and things on all my games, is this suppose to happen when you overclock? and why cant i oc my mem? help please

i have a mobo that supports 8 gb rams and has 4 slots
1 is already loaded with a 1 gb stick
so there 3 slots left
and i am going to buy another 4 gb of ram (2x2gb sticks)
so I'll be running the 4 gb in dual channel and the 1 gb in single channel mode will this work?

I am a PC user all my life, and still in junior high. I am not going to use the computer for gaming, but i do need a lot of memory, ram, and hardrive since i will be using it until college. i have plenty of money in my wallet, a deal i made is that if i pay half of the money, my parents would pay for the other half. I have $3000 which i started saving 7 years ago, so i am able to purchase a $6000 computer. Yay!! Well, I am not a computer nerd and is really confused with either to buy a mac, pc, desktop, laptop. I went many many sites about those mac vs. pc things but half says pc, half says mac. I have no idea of macs and how they work, so it would help if you explain it to me. Which operating system is better? vista or mac osx? well i dont want to go off topic, but just asking. maybe i should buy the desktop because it is way powerful than a laptop, but in the other hand, maybe a laptop because of the portability needed through high school. i am really confused. so please tell me why
