My latpop, Compaq Evo N610c, no longer charges. I have not a clue ot if it is the laptop or charger that is broken, but the charger beeps when it is plugged in to the wall. It's input is 100-240v and output is 18.5v. I have another charger for a IBM Thinkpad 600x that has an input of 100-240v and 16v output. Can I use the IBM thinkpad charger on the Compaq Evo with out blowing up or ruining something?

I wouldn't try unless I were willing to risk blowing something up.

You should really only use an adapter approved by the manufacturer anyway.

Not fitting; voltages must match; in addition you need fitting everything else especially polarity.
