Yes...It is not hard if the drive was not damaged. Remove the hard drive. Insert into an external drive box...(they are cheap. less than $50) and connect it to a new computer via USB port. Read the drive like you would a Data CD. Go in to "my computer" you should see the external drive and double click on it.

If the problem is with the power supply, then the hard drive should be find. Open the computer and take the drive out of it. Then put in into another computer as a second hard drive.

Boot the second computer and you will be able to see the drive and copy your files off of it.

Take your hard drive out and put it into another computer as a slave drive. (check the jumpers, you will see a guide on the back of the drive)

Log into the 'other' computer and you should be able to access it from My Computer assuming your using Windows.

If the power supply is fried how would you possibly "hack" into it? Your computer would have no power.

Install the hard-drive into another computer as a second slave drive and use explore to find the info and save it. Or purchase a usb external hard-drive enclosure ( either parallel or serial) and install the crashed computer hard-drive inside and connect it to the usb port of another computer and use explore to save the desired information. If the crashed computers hard-drive is dead you can send the hard-drive into recovery companies and they will copy what you need.

Get a Linux Live CD - any distro will work; I prefer the Suse version. Boot to a CD and you can read your hard drive. If you have another computer, you should be able to save most or all of your data off to it either by using a network or by using a USB flash drive.
