Well i shut down my computar and left before it finished and i noticed it said shutdown and install updates so i went with it and came back 2 hours later to a frozen computar so i hit the power butten and went through the safe mod screen and i hit start windows normaly and it still was frozen so i hit safe mode(currently on it) and at this point im thinking that i should system restore my computar. Is that what i should do? will it earase any of my programs or harm my computar/slow it down.

THANKS

Unless you have a backup, yes, you'll lose your software when you rebuild your system. Even with a backup, if some of your programs use the contemptible registry, which most do, your backup will do little good unless it's an image backup.

You haven't exhausted all the possibilities as far as I can see, but I can't make meaningful suggestions from a distance like this.

System Restore should return your system files and registry to a selected point in time. It should not affect your documents, personal files or pictures/music. Shutdown completely before you try this and THEN power cycle the system.

Yes, this is a good idea.

You should have been given the option of Start windows with last known good configuration. I am not sure if it will install your updates in safe mode.

Try unplugging it from the power source.
Wait at least 5 minutes, then plug back in.
See if you get the message "computer not shutdown properly" etc.
If you do, let the computer do its thing.
If this doesn't work, get out your CDs and try for a Windows Repair.

Try unplugging everything from the electricity (including the modem from the phone line) for a few minutes. It has worked for me a few times.
