My mums laptop/notebook broke down, we need that data back it has her work on it.

We have a 2nd Laptop, would we be able to simpy swap the Hard-Drives, and have everything working fine again, including the Operating System?

How would we do this, what would we need to watch out for? Thanks

Unless both laptop is the same model, a very high chnace it wont work as Windows' HAL records are different between the two.

You be better off getting an USB2 external casing for this hard drive then plug it in via USB and use the data directly.

unfortunately not every hard disk is compatible inside with every laptop. Especially if it is an old laptop. It is only physical connections matter. If the connecting pins are the same it will work with no problem juts to copy the data cos windows might have some unstable work at the begin
