Basically, my computer wasn't booting a few days so I had to bring it to the repair shop. The BIOS was the problem so the guy updated it. However, ever since I got the computer back, the fan is making so much noise compared to how much it used to make before. Is this normal, could I reduce it?

Take it back to shop, ppoint out that since they had it it's been noisey, try to persuade them to replace fan, you buy fan, they fit free .

It could be one of two things -

1) Most likely, it's a dirty fan. Clean it with computer duster (the can of air) or by hand. If that doesn't quiet it down, replace it with a high-quality fan, such as Antec or Zalman.

2) If you replaced the fan with a new one, it could be a bad calibration in BIOS. Take it back to the repair shop and tell them it's their fault hat the fan calibration is off, since it started happening after they did their work on the system.

it could be dirty.
our computer was loud also, my bf took it apart and saw that the fan and some other parts were covered in dust.
he cleaned everything off carefully, put it all back together, and now it works fine.
he's really good with that type of stuff, and knew how to put it back together, so maybe u can take off the panel n take a peek yourself or ask the repair man to take a look.
