i bought a new amd athlon x2 5600+ and mobo asus m2n-e sli....i put the processor in the mobo slot properly......then the heatsink...the retention mechanism on my heatsink seems a bit different from the pictures in the manual...but i fit the fan in firmly....also made the heatsink fan connection on the mobo...also installed all other stuff like graphics card.....ram....power connections...now when i turn on the pc....a led on the mobo lights up....indicating its on.....but the cpu heatsink fan isnt rotating....another thing....my psu fan connector has 4 pin type connection and mobo pwr fan connector has 3 pins....so i dnt knw how to fit it in....could it be because of this that the power fan cant turn on and so the cpu fan doesnt work?also which thermal paste can i use now....since i've removed the heatsink from the cpu?

I'm confused about two connectors... I have never built with an sli board or sata2 drives. Most important, I've read that sata power connectors only supply 4 wires to the 12pin sata power connector. Which leaves out a 3.3 volt effectively disabling hot swap. I probably won't be swapping anything but does this lack of wires affect the drive in any other way?

Can I hook up 4 SATA drives with only one connector from PSU?

Lastly, can I hook up two SLI cards with only one SLI power connector?

I'm trying to find a good PSU for under 100, I WAS sold on a Kingwin but their site doesn't work to check specs and I won't buy PC parts from a company that can't keep a website up. My build below:

board - Asus P5N-E sli
cpu - CORE 2 DUO E6550 2.33GHZ
ram - PATRIOT 2GB KIT (1GB x 2) PC2-6400 800MHZ
vga - (single)SAPPHIRE Radeon X1950GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express
hdd - WD Caviar SE16 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb

2 optical and 2 ide hdds in case already.
7 fan thermaltake case

The speakers are on the monitor. I KNOW they used to work.

Whenever I press the caps lock key, something squeals at me (I don't know from where), but music/videos won't have sound. It's not on mute, either on the computer or the monitor, and i've checked the volume settings of which I know. What's up?

And this monitor is...HP vs15.

I reloaded Xp but now it comes to a menu where I need to choose between the installations. Only the new one is valid but it's annoying that I have to choose now. Before it would just boot normally. Any way I can fix this?

Hi everyone,

I've had my PC since 2003 and just yesterday when i started it up, it came up with a voice message saying "system failed cpu test". It just keeps repeating this message over and over again. Also, i do not get any video on my monitor, i don't think it could be a monitor problem as i replaced my CRT with an LCD 2 months back.

I've also noticed that when i boot up and let the computer 'warm up' for say 5 minutes then restart it quickly - it works. What could be the problem here? I've always been shutting down before bed and starting up in the morning everyday, and its been working for years, this problem just came out of the blue!

btw, my specs are:
P4 2.53Ghz
ASUS P4S8X Mobo
ASUS 128MB GeForce 4 Ti 4600 Ultra Deluxe
Kingmax 2x512mb DDR PC2700 Ram
80GB Seagate HDD

these are the main things...any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

My business is switching over to printing out our own labels for about 50 packages per day. We heard that thermal printers are the cheapest long run, but we know just about nothing about thermal printers.

Could somebody explain the economics of thermal printers for printing shipping labels with postage vs inkjets and laser?

I bought P5K-E of Asus because it was just the perfect motherboard (from my point of view and because of the Intel P35 chipset). I was looking forward to buy Nvidia 8600 GTS from XFX, but later I discovered this strange (for me) dual GPU techonoly (where you attach two graphic cards together) then I discovered that SLI was for nVidia and Crossfire for ATI.

Then I thought, I could upgrade later to SLI if I get interested enough. Then the big screw up, I bought the mobo, I haven't bought yet the graphic card (thankfuly), yet, but if I want to dual it, then I couldn't do it with two nVidia cards on this CrossFire mobo, I mean, after heareing so much NOs on ppl asking the same question (using one over the other).

I know this doesn't look like a question, seems like I just looking for some confort words, but here are the real questions:

Are ATI really bad graphic card?
Can I use one Nvidia card on this crossfire mobo?

Ok, It seems that many people are saying the geforce 9 series is coming out in Nov. I wanted to upgrade my pc for Call of duty 4 when it comes out in Nov. I realy dont wantot have to pay 400+ for a 8800 gts and in a month the 9 series comes out. I want to upgrade my computer so it last me at LEAST 2 years. So what i wanted to do is upgrade my pc and then just get the 8600 gts for like 150. Now what i wanted to do is prob nov/dec i would want to get the 9800.

I would get like the Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe 3.0GHz, good mother board, memory and so on. BUT I heard the geforce 9 series will not be using PCI Express x16 but a better kind of slot meaning i would need to buy new motherboard and possably memory and/or new cpu. SO if you happen to know anything about that please tell me! IF so i will just buy the best graphics card for like 150 and a little memory and wait till dec. PLEASE give all the info youi can give! THX
