Most computer users have been trained that if you want more speed for your computer, then add more memory. Well, this is true, in certain circumstances. But for most of the times, it really is just bad files in your registry files. Corrupted or missing registry files can make your computer too slow.
The registry is a main part of your computer's Operating System. With time, as you use Windows and install and uninstall programs, your registry will get congested and full of errors. So your computer could slow down. So, if you can clean it up this problem can be solved.Sometimes you can speed computer up by 300%. To clean up registry,You can download a software called regsitry cleaner---Clean registry, remnant, corrupt files and temp files,history,cookies,etc.. This site:

lists top 5 registry cleaner, you can download and scan for free.
Good luck!

You have overloaded 3gb RAM? Wow.

Here are some simple home remedies. It may look formidable, but if you observe these regularly, they will improve your speed. I run them at least every two weeks and sometimes more often.

1. Set wallpaper and screensavers to blank or none — they run continuously in the background and use memory.
2. Review your start menu – remove anything you don’t need on a daily basis — load games, etc. on an as-needed basis.
3. From Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options: delete cookies, delete files (offline), and clear history. (You can also set days to store history to 0.)
----- These actions will clear your computer’s cache. (For a description of cache, go to http://help.yahoo.com/l/ph/yahoo/mail/access/access-27210.html )
4. Run Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, Defrag at least every two weeks (the more frequently they are run, the less time they take).
5. Periodically, click Start, Programs, Run — they type ipconfig renew
(that’s ipconfig space renew).
6. This will show you how to optimize your PC’s performance.

These things should increase speed and free up memory as much as possible.
It will also help if you download two free programs: Ad-aware and Spybot .

make sure your that none of your sticks of ram have died.

sometimes you may get a bad stick of ram that will fail, even if it seemed fine when you first used it.

So if it is a bad stick of ram, send it back to whoever you got it from and get a replacement.
