Hardware - July 2007

I got a new PC and I installed a "DIAMOND Stealth S60PCI Radeon 7000" video card into it because it only had an onboard graphics chipset.

But for some reason my PC cannot even play games like the sims2 and Roller Coaster Tycoon3 I keep getting error messages when I go to start the game.

Can anyone research my card in Google or yahoo and see what the problem could be? even my on board graphics was at least playing the game.

i have just purchased a second hand JVC mini note with which it came with a portable CD Rom. I was wondering whether i bought a DVD rom that i could watch DVDS on it. I try to watch small movie clips that i have from my digi cam. It plays them but doe not like it too much

I don`t have an HDCP compliant monitor yet and both cards are same price...but 7900 has a $70 rebate and it seems to work great. I don`t use VISTA yet cause my scanner isn`t supported fully. I play mostly games that are a few years old too (racing games).

I can't figure out what hapened and neither can my son but ever since he used the computer, I can't type 2 same leters in a row without clicking the mouse on it, it just skips the second leter. Also when i go to backspace it wil do it once then stop. Please help me fix this!

i know oem only work one time then you had to call ms if need it format. but does it the full version of visa cost alot moret han oem itself would work more than 1 computer?

Ok i forgot the instructions for installing my webcam i looked them up at the company's website but it is not there i guess mine is an old model or something. but anyways am i suposed to run the driver first then plug the ubs cord in or plug it in first them run the disk after it finds the hardware? and when i plug it in it is asking me to locate a file type and i have no cluse what the hell that is i seached my pc for it and i can't find it so what iam i suposed to do? please help! thanks p.s i do have the driver that is needed

ok so i havent done a disk clean up in god knows how long and i decided to do one and it wont let me it gets two load bars and after that i can leave it on for days and nada does anyone know how might be able to fix this???

Ok. I have an AOL Optimized PC- bought back in 2004. Last September when I moved out, my ex bf (jerk) YANKED all of the cords out of the back of my PC tower (it's a miracle it still works, basically. When he yanked my speaker cords out, he bent up the metal backing so badly that I cannot hook up my speakers anymore because they don't FIT. What should I do? Is it possible to have the metal back of the tower removed, and a new one put in? Any suggestions would be helpful. I miss my speakers! Thanks :o) ( I have Windows XP if that makes any difference.)

Microsoft Keyboard Elite and Microsoft IntelliMouse both /w bluetooth. I have a notebook and a desktop, both able to use bluetooth devices. If there is any possible way to switch from laptop to desktop with both of the computers on at the same time, please let me know.

I'm interested in buyin a "22" inch flat screen lcd monitor for my new pc,and i've heard that dvi hookups are much better than vga hookups.But i've noticed that there's different dvi hookups and im not sure which dvi connector is the best.Plz help. I have a Powerbook G4 that once had 80 GB, but now has a little over 1GB. I've been erasing files trying to free up space, but its still not changing much. Do those updates that Macs always suggest you doing take up space, like updates for the iPod and iTunes and Firefox and Photoshop? If they do, how can I delete those update files? I have tons of pictures and songs, maybe thats whats taking up alot of the space. Please help, thank you.

I have a new operating system OS X 10.4. The mac already has OS X 10.4 installed on it. I just want to install my the copy I own and can register. Question is do I have to uninstall the operating system that is on there already. If so how?

So I finally put together my rig and finished it and turned it on and thought I was succesful, until it turned off by itself all of a sudden, before I could boot in the Vista OEM fully. I thought the problem was the PSU that came with the case so I went out and got a 600 watt PSU and that didn't help either because it still does the same thing =\.

I really have no idea what it could be, the heatsink fan I put on the CPU clicked down one 2 sides also, but not on the other 2 as i didnt want to apply too much pressure, but it seemed like it stayed in place anyway. So I really need help, what the hell is wrong? Is there something I'm doing wrong ... please HELPPP I'm going crazy =(

I just brought a Geforce 6600 AGP not long a ago, but now I am thinking of upgrade my computer. It is really hard to find a motherboard that support Core Duo and still have a AGP card. I don't want to waste money. Is there a way? thanks in advance

Last night I defraged my NTSF hard drive and then my FAT32 hard drive which is about 9 GBs. Well...after defraging my FAT32 the computer would boot up but freeze at the start up screen. Nothing would work. I had to use a recovery disc and completely restore my PC.

Why did this happen, and why aren't there any warning windows that pop up to keep people from (like me) from ruining there hard drive?
