Hiya Gigi,

I wish I knew the laptop model so the answer could be exact. Try these steps and I am sure one of them will get your laptop screen brighter.

1) All Dell laptops and some others use the FN key and the up or down arrow keys to adjust the brightness on the fly. While pressing down the FN key, press the up arrow or the key with a light blue sun icon. If that won't work....

2) In the BIOS setup utility of just about all laptops there are 2 separate brightness settings; 1 for while using the laptop running on battery power only and 1 for while using the laptop running on AC power with the charger plugged in. Most laptops will display a quick message on the screen just after you power up like:
" F2 : Setup " or " F1 : Setup " or even F10.
You need to press the correct key displayed to enter the Setup (BIOS) at this time and the BIOS setup screen will appear. Using the arrow keys, navigate to the POWER MANAGEMENT page where you will find the brightness settings. If the settings are low for both options you can change them to get a brighter display on the screen.
**Keep in mind that the brighter you set the battery only option, the faster the battery will drain. This will result in less working time if the charger is not plugged in to the laptop.
**The AC option will not effect how long you can work on battery power so set it as high as you like.

3) Many laptop video adapters have a utility to adjust the screen settings which will include contrast and brightness. NVidia and ATI both have decent utilities that you can access in Windows through the display properties applet located in the control panel.

If you still have problems, feel free e-mail me from my profile and include the model of laptop and the type of video adapter if possible.

GOOD LUCK!

It's a cheap monitor. It can't handle the refresh rate from the computer. There's nothing you can do but buy a new monitor And changing the refresh rate on the computer will make it worse

Hi. Most monitors have adjustment buttons on them. They may be under a panel or on the side.
