I just bought a laptop as a gift and its a Intel Pentium Dual Core. I was wondering if that was ok processor. Personally I have a Core Duo chip and I know Core Duo line performs better, but those laptops can get pricey. Never heard anything about Pentium Dual Core before.
The person am buying for will be using the laptop for just basic everday e-mailing, internet, word processing, & skype. No major photo editing, gaming, etc.
Problem with past laptops i've used (Celeron, older Athlon) is that eventually even starting the laptop or surfing the net is slow. I just hope with Pentium Dual Core chip it doesn't get like that. I've heard about newer AMD chips, but don't know much about it. I prefer the laptop to be under $1,000. Any suggestions?
