I have propped up a book behind it so I do not think it is over heating. Any ideas? I depend on this computer!!! Help!

When is the last time it was serviced? The fans might be blocked and the laptop cannot breathe so it will randomly shut down or the fan is malfunctioning.

Does it happen when it's plugged in, unplugged, or both? If it happens when it's unplugged, it could be a battery problem. If it's when it's plugged in, it may be a power cord or power supply problem. Could be the way you have your power option's set.Go into start,control panel.performance and maintenance,power option's and have the three item's set to never.Helped mine.
