If they are box-standard speakers then it's nothing to do with the opertaing system! The speakers dont care what version of windows the computer is running. Test the speakers using a personal stereo of some description.
OK, possible causes for no sound:
(a) speakers connected to the wrong socket. Plug them into the Green socket
(b) PC sounds are muted. Check the little speaker icon near the clock.
(c) Your system has an advanced sound device that can be configured for stereo, 2.1 or 5.1 speaker systems. Check those settings.
(d) You are using a connector on the front panel but that isn't connected properly.
(e) You are plugging the speakers into the modem card.
All possible.
Best of luck!

If you are plugging a stereo jack into your system then the speakers are not the problem.
The problem is that your sound card is not working. Get the Vista driver for your sound system (if one exists.) Check that the system is not muted for some reason.

this seems to be a common problem with all versions of vista
however speakers can be quite difficult to install correctly, especially when you have a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system
go to http://www.creative.com/products/speakers/howto/?c=2&sc=2 and choose the appropriate configuration for your system, then using the flash animation connect your speakers correctly
also go to the acer website and download the drivers....http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html
good luck mate

If you blew a speaker, make certain it was a motivational one. You will feel better about yourself, and maybe make a little money on the side.
