This is probably because your hard drive is connected to your motherboard - Your motherboard is connected to all other components and so if your hard drive is having problems with executing a command, then your computer will freeze up for a second. I recently found a virus traveling through the internet that will split your hard drive. Make sure that if you have Norton or some other computer search program; that you run it daily. and make sure you do a full scan. It also may help to get a stick of RAM. RAM is random access memory. This will allow you computer to run faster and more organized like. If you don't want to buy any RAM, then it will help to defrag your computer. to defrag go to start ->All programs->Accessories->System tools-> Disk Defragmenter. then analyze and follow the instructions. This program will go through your files and in a way it will organize them. If you computer continues to get progressively worse, then if it starts to restrict access to any of your files. You need to get your computer checked. Tell them that is might be the hard drive splitting. You also may need to get a new video card; The virus that is going thought the internet will fry your video card. Hope i was of assistance

Time to get a new hard drive. The sound means the head of your hard drive don't park correctly. The heads of hard drive is now auto parking for safety (Fancy term saying heads are moved from disk to a safe location).
There is a possibility of data loss, when the heads are going back and forth they can accidentally land on disk surface and create bad sectors. This is a good time for you to consider backing up data and move to a new hard drive.
One more thing if you have changed CPU location or make it stand / put on side this also may be the cause of the problem. Revert the CPU to it's original position and this might fix the problem.

Quickly backup your data. The more you run your computer on this hard drive the more risk you take of losing everything. Your hard drive is failing and needs to be replaced. You can get a new hard drive from most any electronics/computer store. However reinstalling everything may be difficult. Your best bet would be to take this into a computer technician shop and have them back it up and install a new hard drive along with your windows installation. Good luck HTH.

A power cable might be lose inside your computer. Make sure you discharge any static you might have on you then take the case off the computer. Look for red and black cables that run into a white clip. Make sure they are all tight and secure. That may help

This maybe a virus, if you have a IT person, check with them. You could run a virus scan before to see if it is this. If it is not this then maybe it is a hardware problem, if your computer is still under warrenty - call the company you got it from.
Good luck!!

That sound means CLICK OF DEATH! Basically your hard drive is running on it's last days.. Next time get a "Western Digital" hard drive -- they are most trusted to last the longest.
to learn more about those clicks you here:

Hi. Use the machine as little as possible to prevent failure of the hard drive. But a new one and have it installed. Copy the data to the new one.
