(You must have a graphic card capable of dual display, not clone display, or you must have an AGP and PCI card. This doesn't work if you have an AGP and on board graphics)

- Launch your Display Properties (Control Panel->Display)
- Change to the Settings tab
You should see two displays in the little picture section although one may be grayed out
- Select the second display
- Click the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor

That should have you up and running.

If you are running a laptop, you may be seeing a "cloned" display rather than a second display. I think if you cycle through the function key again ( I think) you can go from clone to second display. Haven't tried this in a while so maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Assmuing hardware-wise, you have everything hooked up right, then you'd see your desktop splayed out across the two monitors. Any programs you run that run in "fullscreen" will also spread across. However, If the programs can run in a windowed mode, then you can simply set the resolution in said program to the same height, but half the width of your desktop resolution, and then do that for the other one. Drag one window across to the other monitor, and voila. two programs, two monitors.

Granted, I could be completely wrong for your needs, so more info would help give you a better answer.

You need a specific plug that connects the two together and then ou can minimize the screens and transfer what you want on each screen.

You need to use span mode, rather than clone mode.
