I need to clean out some room on my hard drive, and I want to eliminate some programs and pictures, and I see some pictures are measured in kilobytes and others in megabytes. Which ones are larger? Gigabytes are the largest, then what comes after that, etc. on down the line.

I have a hpdeskjet5550 printer. I am really bad with computers so I don't know if it's the computer or the printer. When I have a purple heading it prints as bright blue. When I have a dark red heading it prints as bright red. The colour problems show when I check out the Print Preview though. This problem only applies to text, not graphics. I've been trying to change the colour settings on the "Advanced" tab but nothing is working. I have a WindowsXP. My cartriges match the printer. Don't know what to do and have a project due soon! (Sorry if this question is really dumb, I'm not a very technological person!) Thanks a lot!

I cannot find out where to put the cartridges in; sounds stupid but I've had several printers before and never had a problem.

ok, NOT a computer person, so do not speak in computer lingo...talk like you are explaining it to your grandparent!!! I have a Dell Laptop with Windows 2000. if additional information is needed, let me know, I can tell you further info. Also, if it involves buying something and adding it to my computer, just say $$ because I'm not putting any money into this computer, I would rather buy new....hopefully this year :-)

sorry first post >.<

ok.. something has been seriously messed up with my comp for a month it seems like. it all started out of nowhere i started getting the error message "missing or corrupt file hal.dll" i fixed that part by rebuilding the bootcfg and everything was fine for a while. but then out of no where whenever i restart my computer now it wont make it to the windows loading screen
and the only way i can get it to windows is when i go thru my xp cd and use the repair console and run chkdsk /p and /r after both of those have run it finally starts up but slower than **** ive tried scanning with various programs (i.e. avg hijackthis spybot s&d...) all have found nothing except for avg which says that ntoskrnl.exe has a reading error. ive been reading on this and it seems alot of ppl have problems with avg and the ntoskrnl.exe but mine seems to be completely different than their problems. they all get error messages at boot up and mine doesnt display anything. so PLZ i need help.

My battery is dead and I have to keep the cord in one position for the laptop to turn on, some times it loses power without the cord moveing. Lately I can't even get the cord in the position for the laptop to turn on, so I think whatevers causing the problem is totally broken. The power cord seems to be working, there is no visible, external damage. Since I don't have another computer to test the power cord on, I'm not sure if it's the cord or the computer. Is there any way of fixing the problem without taking the laptop to be fixed or buying a new power cord? If so, please tell me.

I was wondering if anyone knew the safe overclocking limits for an AMD Athlon processor.
A free overclocking program wouldn't be bad either..

Ok I just installed a new video card and a new stick of RAM which is so great
but when i turn on my computer it said
my
CPU clock speed had change or something like that
and I need to change it in MMOS or something
so i ask on other forum it said to take out the CMOS battery
and replace it after 5min.

1 Ok so last night I found where the battery is but i was wondering how do I take it out? it so hard no matter how much i keep pulling it up it won't budge (I'm not good with computer)

and I search on here about it and i saw a question that said that after they replacing the battery the comp. ask for their password or something like that
i was wondering does this always happen after removing the battery
because i don't know my password accept when log in on my profile

I'm a PC user considering the prospect of switching to a Mac. (A MacBook, to be specific.) I'll be recording podcasts, storing digital media (i.e., iTunes), using the Internet on-the-go, and performing other basic computing functions that I've gotten used to with my PC. What kinds of things do I need to be prepared for, and what all will I need to buy to meet this criteria and make the switch from Windows to Macintosh as seamless as possible?
