My battery is dead and I have to keep the cord in one position for the laptop to turn on, some times it loses power without the cord moveing. Lately I can't even get the cord in the position for the laptop to turn on, so I think whatevers causing the problem is totally broken. The power cord seems to be working, there is no visible, external damage. Since I don't have another computer to test the power cord on, I'm not sure if it's the cord or the computer. Is there any way of fixing the problem without taking the laptop to be fixed or buying a new power cord? If so, please tell me.

When I mean jiggle or move, I mean barely jiggle like if someone just touches the power cord. And my main problem now is that I can't even get it to turn on.

Mine does this too, I was going to buy a new power cord. DON'T. A computer tech told me that there is a lot of lap tops having problems with the actual inside part of the computer where you plug the cord into, not the cord. So it is probably the same thing that is wrong with mine. He never did give me an exact price on fixing the problem though. Good Luck

Most likely the connections where the power cord wires are soldered to the jack plug where it goes into the laptop or at the other end where the go into the transformer. If you can solder you can strip off the insulation and reattach where the break is.
If they seriously charge upwards of $200 in America buy a soldering gun for $10 look up how to solder on the Internet and do the job (and jobs in future) for free.

This actually just happened to my mothers laptop. Take the computer to a repair shop, They will tell you you have to replace the whole mother board, but it IS possible just to replace that little piece that the jack goes into. It will run you around 200 dollars and take about a week to fix. The female piece is just loose. Good Luck!

Hi. The plug is bent, probably internally. One trick is to twist the plug leads a little bit so as to maintain contact.
