I'm very confused. I have Vista Home Premium and a shiny new Wacom tablet. I'd like to use some of the tablet PC specific Vista features using my tablet (something that apparently seems quite possible and automatic) but, er, it's not happening. I can doodle with my pen and control the screens with it, but I'd like to be able to use some of the handwriting recognition thingys and Windows Journal and such as well. My tablet's installed... So now what?

I have 20-20 vision and have used CRTS for 11+ years without any problems. I received my first LCD 3 weeks ago (Dell 1907FPv which is supposed to be a good monitor) and after 4 hours, I literally went and had my eyes examined. It took 4 days for my sight to get back to 20-20. I have turned the brightness way down, and when I put up vertical & horizontal line test patterns and move them between a high end CRT and the LCD, the difference on my eyes is drastic. (I can't stand to look at the test pattern on the LCD for more than 30 seconds).
I used to work on motion picture projection systems, so I am sensitive to images that are not crisp and clear.
I think this idea that LCDs cause less eye strain is WAY off the mark, but maybe it is just this particular LCD model.

I don't know if 'chips' is the right word, but I think you'll know what I mean. I have 256 RAM now, but I would like to upgrade in the near future.

Ok, basically I've heard that you get optimal performance when your Front Side Bus speed matches the speed of your RAM.

"Santa Rosa" is being released by Intel soon. It has a new 800 MHz FSB. Most laptop RAM, however, is still at 533 or 667 MHz.

So, the question is, will 800 MHz RAM be available when buying a computer? If not, how big a deal will this be? Would the 667 FSB be better?

Cheers.

I want to use my Windows XP Media Center PC as a DVR, and then watch the DVRed content on my HDTV. I have:
- DirecTV for TV
- Comcast for internet (not sure if this or the above matter, but ya never know...)
- 2 PCI slots, 1 PCIe slot
- Lots of internal and external hard drive space
- Full specs: http://reviews.cnet.com/HP_Pavilion_Media_Center_A1640n_Core_2_Duo_1_86_GHz_2_GB_RAM_250_GB_HDD/4507-3118_7-32103840.html?tag=sub

I know I need a TV tuner (preferably a dual tuner) and some other equipment to do this. My PC and TV are not in the same room currently. Can I record in HD on my PC and use an Xbox 360, or another similar HD device, to stream content to my TV? Which tuners are best? What other hardware do I need? How should I set it all up? Thanks for any and all advice on this.

My hard disk constantly spins, and makes very loud annoying sound. I traced the problem to Limewire. Turned off the uploads. Still hard disk kept on spinning. FInally, had to shut Limewire down. The problem has started only recently. Earlier, I was using Limewire without any problems. Please help me use Liewire peacefully again.

I have a NEC 3550A dvd burner in my computer. It worked perfectly with Windows XP Pro, but since I installed Media Center it only works about 25% of the time. It's kind of hit or miss. It is more likely to burn a dvd correctly than a cd. Any help would be great.

I bought an Internal (WD250JBRTL) EIDE hard drive with the intent of using it as a "removable USB storage". I set the jumper to the slave setting and installed it in an IDE enclosure. My computers recognizes that a USB device has been plugged in but will not show the drive in "my computer", Is there a compatibility issue between EIDE and IDE ???

I have tried the troubleshooting procedures but nothing it suggested works. All my cables are plugged correctly, including the port to the hard drive. My printer screen says, that there is no connection to the computer. However, when I go to the control panel and click on printer and the status. The computer says the printer is ready. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Okay God bless you.

It seems to have no buttons for adjusting brightness contrast, horizontal and vertical alignment etc. How do you fix this? Is it done by the OS instead then? I run fedora but cannot find any option to allow for monitor settings from the OS. Any ideas?

I'm not talking about replacing a hard drive because you ran out of space, I'm talking about how long someone's been able to keep it without it failing.
I guess if you have an expensive one, it's gonna last longer, but I just want to have a general idea about the maximum lifespan of a hard disk drive. Then if my drive fails I won't feel bad if I know I got the most use out of it.
