These are my current computer's spec:

Sony VAIO VGC-RC210G
3.0 GHz Intel Pentium D 930 CPU, 800 MHz FSB, ATI Radeon X300 graphics controller (128 MB dedicated memory)
2 GB (4 slots w/ 512 MB each) PC2-4200 533 MHz RAM,
620GB Internal, 250GB External hard drive, 7 USB 2.0, 2 FireWire, S-Video

So my question is, even though the manual says that memory is expandable to 2 GB, can I install a 1 GB memory module that's PC2-4200 533 MHz or no? Thanks

Which is better to have more of: Ghz or RAM?

I'm not a computer expert but I do know a lot of the basics.

I know that Ghz is the processor speed and RAM deals with performance and smoothness of running programs..
So for example, is it better to have a 4Ghz processor with 2 GB or RAM or 2Ghz processor with 4 GB o RAM?

Lets say that its mainly going to be used for gaming and other programs that uses a lot of memory.
(I'm not looking for a computer, i'm just curious on what's better to have more of)

my system crashed from a virus breakout on my laptop i had to borrow the windows home cd from a friend and reloaded my operating system but now at the boot menu it tells me hard drive failure imminent press F1 to ignore is this because the trojan damaged the hard drive?

it is for my rackmount case and the power supply sits in the front with all the connections comming out the back. that means the internal and external connections are all in the back and it pigtails to a connection in the back of the case to get the ac cord out,

When I turn on the computer, all the sound system works.
After a few minutes though, the screen suddenly changes to the "classic view", and I can no longer hear any sounds.
When I go to sound, speech, and audio settings, it states that I have no audio device.

There is no virus on my computer, and I have already tried system restore.

Can anyone please help me with this problem?

When i look under my computer and view my details it shows i have about 984 mhz processor. i looked up my processor on the internet to see how powerful my processor is supposed to be, its supposed to be a 2.0 Ghz.

I just got a brand new computer and it came with windows vista. I have tried to download a few different things and i havent been able to get any to work. Could this be the windows vista because i know i did it right because i have done it before on my moms computer. Or is there somethingi have to set or unset so i can get them to download. In 2004 I bought a connect3d brand video card from tigerdirect.com and had an experience less than ideal. Do you always get what you pay for with these budget cards, or are some brands good while others lacking? Which would you recommend? Is it worth the extra money (possibly twice as much) to get the name-brand card? Or are cards from companies like HIS, Powercolor, and Sapphire just as good?

And if it's something I can fix, do I have to ground myself? How?
If I want to stop this loud gargling noise, I've just lifted the front about a 1/2" and gently dropped it, and the noise stops....might take 2-3 drops (very gently!).
Can I stop it somehow without taking the cover off?
ALSO, I never shut off, I've scheduled updates to run during the night. Have a good antivirus/and firewall/and anti-spyware. So I sleep well knowing that nothing will tear into my computer. But this noise often wakes me up (light sleeper).
