Here's the best way to test it without looking in you pc specs:

run the memory scanner at www.crucial.com

It will tell you what you can add, and what type. Sweet.

When you upgrade to Vista there are going to be problems. Older machines(even one or two years) are not going to be able to use Vista without upgrades of hardware and drivers. You would have been better off to leave XP on it. It sounds like you need to update your video card driver, but even then your display may not be able to give enough performance to run Vista at it's highest settings (aero).

all computers can upgrade memory. what are you upgrading, RAM (Random Access Mamory ) Which is for your harddrive or ROM (Read Only Memory) which is for your processor. hope this helps, brodster.
