well, if your will to spend $600 + i'd look at GeForce 8800 GFX
but n e ways, the GeForce™ FX 5200 looks pretty good, the only thing that i don't like is its only a 128 mb mem. I don't have halo so i don't know, but that might not be enough...or it may be, but try to go with at least a 256mb or 512mb card...

The best card for the PCI which I have is the Nvidea Geforce FX 5500 OC (Over Clocked) 256 Mb, by BFG technologies.

The CHEAPEST I think is at Walmart believe it or not. When I bought mine there 2 years ago it was cheaper than the internet.

This card is Overclocked, the max level of card 5500, and the max memory 256 Mb available. If you buy the card and have any problems give me a buzz.

I researched for two weeks and I decided that this was better than the Radeon 9250. The BFG card was the one I got, simple because the only one over clocked.

A price of $80 for the AGP card. I know in San Antonio, Texas as of two weeks ago there were PCI cards available so call your walmart to make sure.

I checked the cards out and BFG is the only one I could find that was overclocked. Maybe that was why I got it. But go to Ebay and they have some excellent prices there.

Now again the Radeon 9250 is the top of the line in the PCI card in the Radeon brand.. Remember to get your graphics card with the 256 Mb. Also, I presume you have PCI slots only, no AGP slots on your computer. And if you research you will find the FX 5500 is better than the 5200.

Run Belarc to see what is inside your computer, and the other one is the same but different format. Also check to see if you can upgrade in the memory department too.

If you are limited to a PCI card then the GeForce FX series is the best you can get. As for the brands you mentioned eVGA is the only really good brand there. I'm not familiar with VisionTek.

PNY is a horrible company. They do NOT honor their warranties. They pretend to have lifetime warranties, but they are full of crap. Their "lifetime" warranty ends as soon as they stop selling the product. That means if you buy it today and they stop selling it tomorrow, your warranty is void. Some lifetime...
