When I turn on the computer, all the sound system works.
After a few minutes though, the screen suddenly changes to the "classic view", and I can no longer hear any sounds.
When I go to sound, speech, and audio settings, it states that I have no audio device.

There is no virus on my computer, and I have already tried system restore.

Can anyone please help me with this problem?

Sounds to me like your Registry has some conflicting entries in there...Try and do a registry cleaning to get rid of invalid entries...
Programs such as PC Tools Registry Mechanic 6 can do that in just few mins or so...
If all else fails, format and reinstall windows...
I do a reinstall about every 8 months or so because XP starts to become unstable regardless of all the maintenance I do on it...

Yes, you may have to do a recovery as it appears something is corrupted. Before I got Norton's, I know some virus or something used to mess my system up and I was constantly doing recoveries. I would run the free stuff but to no avail. Anyway, bought the Norton and no problems and FINALLY no recoveries. Hallelujah. lol

Anyway, go to START, ALL PROGRAMS, then click PC HELP & TOOLS. Since you have done the restore then do a soft recovery. Then if that does not work, you can do the hard recovery where you will lose ALL programs and the computer is reformatted back to factory specifications. But before you do this make sure to save to disk all the important programs you have. Saving the start up programs for me was a lot faster, then trying to recover then going to internet to download. This way you can download with fear of any viruses getting on. I know you have done the recovery disk

Audio driver on your mother board has corrupted. Either if you have installation CD than install it if not you can download it from your mother board manufacturer's site for free. As XP during installation keeps some important data in it's memory. Go to device driver & choose aodio devices. If it has changed to yellow color than your driver is missing even than or other wise double click it & click remove driver. Re boot & again go to device manager double click audio devices & click install driver. You have to tick in opening windows Automatically. If it works than OK, if not download drivers, from where you know now. Never click roll back drivers.
