Hi all, is it ok to spray my CPU with water when it overheats? I have done it a few times before and it was ok, and is this what they mean buy water cooling?

I have a AMD 5000+ with 3gig GEIL PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2 and a NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 1024MB PCI-E….. thanks

Greetings Everyone!

I want to buy a new computer for my home and business use.

At home I use it for vids, photos, music and standard apps. I don't have the time to play many games.

I am going into business soon. We will open a language school and we want to do accounts, desktop publishing (fliers and newsletters) and making ads/worksheets. We need to be able to use English OS but Japanese language & software.

We will also be setting up a podcast service and we will want to do video-conferencing so that I can give lessons on the Internet. We need a good camera/mic setup.

I'm sick of buying things like System Mechanic, anti-spyware/virus etc. just to keep my Win-Tel machine running.

From now on I am getting reliability!

Should I buy

1 A cheap PC that runs Windows XP as i guess they will be getting cheap soon?
2 A new PC running Windows Vista?
3 An iMac? Thinking of the iMac 20" 2.16GHz 2GB, 250GB HD, SuperDrive.

I have a pentium 4 which is very good but my sound is not coming out of the speakers~~nor the headphones.
It seems to be a computer problem rather than the connections, as i had a box appear on the screen and it said the connections appear to be connected right.
Am i supposed to go somewhere in my computer and turn them on??.My last pc was an athalon 2700 processor and they worked fine then??Any help please.

I have one. And its not something like "Intel (R) Chipset family" and crap. It Says something like "Intel (R) 82845G Graphics Control". Is that Integrated? Or is it just a sucky Video Card.

And, I don't have anything ChipSet Family or Integrated stuff related on my PC.

his seems very debated, and my friend ALWAYS leaves his computer running, i turn mine off whenever it's not in use, and he argues the computers BETTER running than SHUT off daily. i know the hibernate feature is put there for a reason, but i have a hard time believing this. the question is, anyone experienced in computers, or very knowledgable that can put a squash to this rumor and tell me should your computer go off daily, hibernate, or is it okay to leave it on 24-7? my friend again, has his on 24-7 and his seems to be in good shape <.<...

Ive looked at two places, and they say opposite. Wikipedia says lower is better, but then the New Corsair Dominator is rated a 5-5-5-15 Latency, and Wikipedia said 2-2-2 is faster. So which is it? I know its the amount of clock cycles it takes to process the information, so, it seems logically the lower the better. But, if thats the case, then how is the Corsair Dominator rated pc 8600 as well as the fastest DDR2 Ram available when its 5-5-5-?

Besides the obvious that the Tower is a Tower case, and the Shuttle is a Box...basically. Does the Shuttle have more room, better cooling, worse cooling, or what? Or, is it just the look of it?

I bought a brand new computer at Comp USA. Two weeks passed and my harddrive burned. Comp USA fixed it because it was under a year warranty. However, I was scared about it breaking down so I bought a 2 year extended warranty. This was about $155 including tax. However it starts the day I bought the computer. So basically it is a one year warranty after the one year HP warranty expires. I was told this AFTER I bought the warranty.

Anyways , do you think I made a wise investment even though I thought the warranty should have started after the first year and not overlapped it? Electronics break so quickly!!

I have an older dell (dimension 4400) and i was wondering if i could run my cable connection through my monitor. I do not have a cable box and the cable output is a simple coaxial connection.

BIOS is saying my CPU (AMD Barton 3000+, not overclocked) is running between the mid 60's (while idle) to 80+ degrees, but PC Wizard says it is the PSU that is running at that temp, while the CPU is around the mid twenties.

I would assume BIOS is correct, but why are the readings so different?

Here's a link to my PSU: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1030240&CatId=1077

About the high temperature, I recently applied thermal paste (we didn't apply it when we bought it 2+ years ago, but I would imagine it came with some on it) and it seemed to make a difference at first, but it's still obviously way too hot. I'm pretty sure it's been running at high temperatures since I got it, but it's been getting worse.
Also, when I put my hand by the fan of the PSU, it doesn't feel hot.

At this point, I'm not really sure what to do.
