well.. i ma new at computer hardwares...
when i try to have a look of a HDD in the inetrnet, most of them show it with a disk-like thing exposed... but i remembered that the whole thing should be enclosed in a mental box...
so.. do i need to buy an extra case for the HDD?

i think that this is an excellent question. the only reason that you see the picture of the hdd it to show you what the hdd looks like in the inside. when you buy a hdd, the hdd will be completely covered.

HAHAHHA. They do that for looks, Hard Drives must be enclosed or else the tiny bit of dust or movement with the read/write head will **** the **** up instantly. Hard drives spin the platters as fast as the max your engine can rev at.

If you are looking at a INTERNAL HDD then that is one that goes inside your computer. That is probably what you are seeing.

The EXTERNAL HDD has a cover already and all you do is just hook up with a cable to your computer.

Show and tell only. Don.t know why they do that. It will be enclosed and fit the rack in your pc. If you want it external, then you need the case. Make sure you check out cables and jumper settings before you dive in there.

What is shown is just a marketing mock-up for photographic purposes, or the photo was taken in the factory clean-room, they are not shipped without the cover.
