There is no "server printer". Perhaps you confused it with "print server"? That's a device connected to network that will allow printer(s) to print without being connected to a PC. Network printer is just a printer connect to the network (via print server, or via a PC).

In simple terms..

This depends on how you share your printer. If you attach your printer to a PC or desktop and share it among the network, the PS or the server acts as a print server. This is usually done with printers that doesnt have network ports and uses a USB or parallel port to connect.

Some of the printers have network ports in it. These can be connected to the network and shared by asigning IP address to it.

The printers with networks ports will be slightly expensive. But it is better since you dont have to use a server to share.
