My sister purchased a laptop off a friends company about a year ago im not sure of the exact specs its a pioneer. CPU is AMD turion 64 mobile 1.60gh its got 480mb of ram.

1st problem it says its got 480mb of ram it said 512 when we got it but im told its shared with the video card that make sence to anyone?

It also has alot of preformance problems it general runs slow often runs out of ram very quickly freezes easly stuff like that ive ran lots of anti virus scans on it and freed up as much ram as i can it still seems to run out. One of my desktops a Athlon 1.2 with 256mb of ram runs more smooth most of the time than this laptop despite the laptop been alot better.

video card is a ATI Radeon xpress 200m ive not had much to do with computers in the last couple of years so fallen behind is this any good? and does it use shared memory? I know my laptops 64mb card does yet ive never had any problems like this and ive had it a couple of years now.

So anyone got any bright ideas? im out

when i try playing certain DVDs on my pc ,some play while other don't .and in order to be able to play them it requires me to set a region for that particular DVD to play e.g region 1( U.S.A and Canada),region 2 (Japan ,UK),region 4 (Australia, south America) ,region 5 (africa)....but the settings are limited to 4 times...and after that they cannot be changed anymore.

Hi,
Recently, I purchased a wireless card for my laptop (that runs Windows XP Pro) and when I installed it, it did not install as a wireless connection but as an ethernet cable-based one. It was reciving great signal strength, but I kept reciving a "a network cable is disconnected" error when I set it up accordingly to whatever network I was using.

Prior to that, I was using an ethernet cable port in that same slot before I went wireless (or tried to); I didn't switch to one right after the other but I think my laptop has that slot poorly associated...

I've uninstalled the wireless card's driver for now. Can anyone here please help me install it and make sure it's properly recognized as a WIRELESS card and not something that needs a cable?

Hey, I'm a 14 y.o. boy, struggling with my computer, because my video card is too old to play the new game that my parents got me. I am using a DELL Inspiron 600m, and it is fitted with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000. The card I need is a card that is equivalent to the ATI Radeon X1300. Tech Support says that I can't upgrade the video card at all, but they CAN be wrong sometimes, so I'm going to a new group of people for answers.

-Is it possible to replace my Inspiron 600m notebook's video card with a newer model?
-What kinds of steps would I have to take to replace it?
-What ATI Radeon X130o-equivalent card would work in this case(remember, it is a notebook)?
-Would it in any way void my warranty?

Thanks.

The joint where the screen folds down is badly cracked on one side. Where can I take my laptop for repair? How much can I expect to pay? I have a Dell Inspiron, it is 4 yr. old and no longer under warranty.

I just recieved my first notebook computer, and was just wondering if there was anything you have to do before you charge the battery for the first time to ensure maximum battery performance and life. Do you have to drain it fully first and then charge it, or just charge it fully as is. It is a 6 cell li-ion battery. Thanks alot!

If I plug a regular usb cable device into my usb ports it will work just fine other then that when I plug my usb memory stick into it it will shut off my computer and if I plug a usb hub into it it will also shut off if I do that as well.

I was told that vista was made for the 64 bit platform. So doesnt that mean the dual processor AMD 64 x2 chip would be a better buy than Intel Core 2.
