Hi there, I feel like I've been a mac/windows compatibility victim for the 1000th time.

I borrowed my friends western digital wd1200 external hard drive. The first time I plugged the drive in, the icon showed up on the desktop however the drive was read only. What I wanted to do is I wanted to move files in to the drive.

The second time I plugged it in, there was nothing on the desktop. My computer is now not being able to detect to drive.

So how would I make the drive read & write? My friend runs xp on his computer.

Please help me out, I'll really appreciate it.

I am about to build a system with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600, 2 hard drives, & a Raedeon 9800 Pro graphics card. I'm doing a lot of 3D rendering & graphics. Does anyone recommend a fan they've found to be extremely quiet & efficient? I'm going to put 2 in: one on the side of the case as an intake & one in the back as an exhaust. Thanks!

I keep getting this low disk space notification pointing to the hp_recovery partition. Tried the disk cleanup but there's no memory left to free up. For a capacity of 6.23GB, only 32.3MB is free. Cant modify this partition as it contains the recovery info and is protected. Help me out guys. Thanks!

The reason I ask if it can play Oblivion at full graphics is because if it can handle that tan I should be set for another year or so ^_-

ok my friend just bought a new tower for her computer but is using all the other bits and pieces from her old computer. She turns on the tower and the monitor keeps saying no signal. I am having a serious problem.You might have heard about the flood in Gujarat, India. I live there and my office got flodded. My PC was full in water. After the flood was over I removed my harddisk and connected it to my home PC, but nothing is coming. During booting it shows the extra drive but it does not show in "My Computer". I need my data, can anyone tell me what to do. I know that there is something wrong in the circuit on the harddisk. Is there anyway out.?

How different are the components used in a desktop, the laptop and the notebook?

Does a notebook use the same type of motherboard used in a desktop? Does it also used the same type of Pentium processor or hard disk, etc?
