my vote is for dell

inspirion is 4 home entertainment
latitude 4 professionals > application specific !

the latitude d420 is just 3 pounds in weight, but optical drives r external
the other range is the xps
take a look at the xps m1210, sure u gonna love it
http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/xpsnb_m1210?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

have a closer look, zoom in ... then we can configure specifics !

what's u gonna use the laptop for ?

My experience only, IMHO the Dell computers are junk. I have a Dell laptop at work and the drive has had to be replaced twice and I have gone through 3 keyboards. If u get a Dell make sure u buy an extended warranty cuz u may need it. I have a personal laptop at home which is great, its a Toshiba (a japanese company) made in China.

Fujitsu Is The Only Possibility For Light and Thin.

A Bit Less affordable Than dell But Well worth It For The Build Quality, System Set Up and Specs (Reliability.)

I think that you should go Dell. I have an older Latititude (C600 model), and it runs new software, games, music, internet..all without any problems. Dell is usually cheaper, and in my experience, far more reliable. Inspiron and Latitudes are just about the same thing, they just run on newer processors and stuff like that. You would really have to ask a computer specialist for precise details on that.

I have an Inspiron 5150. The only problem I have is mine will eventually overhate and the heat sink assumbly with basically fail. I have the problem twice, both times Dell fixed it from free (one in warrenty one out of warrenty).

Do you NEED to have a laptop? A desktop is so much better just because there are more proudcts out there for it, they are typically cheaper, and it is easier to find people who can fix a desktop over a laptop IMHO. Also you can definatly get more HDD space with a desktop over a laptop. Do you think your music library is or is going to get big? There are iPods available with more HDD space than my laptop. The only real advantage to a laptop is the portability. If you are going to need to move with it get a laptop, if not you might want to look for a desktop.

id go for the fujitsu if i was going for a laptop but i dont realy like laptops cause if sumit goes wrong with it it can be costly to repair i had a laptop and had two years out of it so i got a pc instead and ive had it three years and is still upgradable and fast too
dont touch dell or hewlett packard as if you ever have to format you have to send it in for the drivers ect to be repaired and that is defo costly
