I am wanting to set up Whole Home Network Installation
Work securely from anywhere in your network, while sharing the Internet and files between computers and printers. And geeksquad charges $200 dollars to do it and when i tried to look it up online the only thing i could find was this sketchy program

Ok, here's the thing:

I have one DSL cable with one static IP address assigned to it. It is not assigned to the MAC so it can be used on any PC.

The thing I want to do is to have access to the Internet with two PCs using this one line.

As I know it you can't just split it with a switch as it requires IP addresses for both PCs.

Is there any way to do this? Like using a router (I have heard about it but don't know how it exactly works)

I prefer hardware solutions over software ones.

I prefer not to use a hub as I was told that it splits the speed of the connection between the PCs and I want to have the line speed for both PCs.

(P.S.: Don't give me cr@p about how illegal it is and I should pay for 2 lines, etc, etc. I know and I am willing to take full responsibility. And even so... if it is so illegal why do they sell components that can do this?)

10 points to who makes me understand what to do exactly.

THANKS!

ok so i have scanned my computer with mcafee virus scan, noadware 5.0, spybot SD, and stinger yet none have fixed my problem. My connection to my router is fine yet my computer gives me the limited or no connectivity icon. i use ipconfig and i get an ip of 0.0.0.0 i click the lan propertites and click tcp/ip settings then set my ip to some random one 192.168.1.XXX and then it asks for DNS server. How can i find the DNS servers name or is there anyway to fix this problem i have confirmed that it is not my network card because i put in a usb ethernet adapter and got the same problem. Is this a Virus is there anyway to fix this short of wiping the HDD and re-installing XP. also would setting windows settings to default help any. ive already put my computer to the earliest restore point i could. Please help me

Does anyone have a good program for monitoring the wireless network and "disconnecting"/kicking, and even kick+message to a computer that connects to the wireless network.

and that can notify me when a wireless invader comes in.

thanks in advance! :)

I set up a wireless router for my apartment, and I have been having trouble with connecting a computer to the router. The computer connects to the internet, but it is not assigned an IP address. This problem also occurs with connecting the computer directly to the cable modem.

The computer is fairly old, but is running windows XP. It has successfully connected to a cable modem before.

I have an Airport Express base station. I am able to use the wireless connection it supplies with both my iBook and my PC no problem, however on my Mac G5, I can't! I have an Airport Extreme card properly installed, it's right there on my System Profiler, yet it can't find ANYTHING to connect to - even though in this area there are at least 4 networks including my own that my PC has no trouble seeing. I am tearing my hair out here!! Help!!

I have a Netgear 54 mbps wireless router WGR614 that isn't working right any more. The power light doesn't light even though it's plugged into the adapter and the adapter is securely plugged into a power strip. All that is plugged into the Netgear is the power adapter and nothing lights up except for the 1 2 3 4 (which shouldn't be because there's no cord plugged into there in the back) and the number 3 is a yellow/orange color while the rest is green. It was also very hot, I'm hoping someone can help me fix it.
Thanks.

I'm trying to get internet access for my Wii, and I'm not going to purchase a wireless router because I ordered one with a laptop that's coming in a month. I was hoping there would be some way to use my USB adapter as an access point so that I can still access the internet from my Wii in the meantime.
